“I have such a hard time finding a vegetable I like and will eat.  And my kids?  It is a battle at the dinner table every night!” Does this sound familiar?  For you or a friend?

Most veggies have strong flavors. And unless they are floating in butter or cheese sauces, finding different satisfying ways to fix them is exasperating.  Plus to eat a full cup of them? Uh, yah, no thank you! 🙂‍↔️ I want to enjoy my meal.

Enter microgreens. They are tiny, nutrient-dense, and packed full of flavor. But their flavor is not overwhelming.  And a serving is only 2 tablespoons.

What? Did I read that right?  Yes, 2 tablespoons is a full serving of microgreens. Ok, I can do that.  But which microgreens are right for you?

A Beginner’s Flavor Guide:

There are so many wonderful options among the many varieties we grow here at Tasty Little Leaves Microgreens, LLC.  In my personal journey, I chose broccoli and kale for their nutritional medicinal contributions to my health.

Today, with what I've learned about the abundant flavor options that are available in the world of microgreens, I'd make some different choices. So, if I were you and needed to have some insider information on what to choose for my first order. Keeping flavor at the forefront, here are my choices and how I would add them to my daily menus.

Broccoli 🥦:

There have been so many studies done to make them an excellent first choice.  They have a mild, bright, earthy flavor that pairs well with any meal.  For lunch, I like topping off a deli meat sandwich with them.  For dinner, I like to add them to a loaded baked potato with chili, cheese, sour cream and bacon. Yum!

Red Cabbage 🥬🟣:

Vibrant dark green top leaves with a red underside and stem. They are just a stinking pretty microgreen! Their flavor is milder than the fully developed head of cabbage. They are also sweeter, but have a slight end note that some describe as peppery. Don't tell anyone, but they are actually my favorite. For lunch, I love mixing them in with an egg salad for a sandwich.  For dinner, I like using them like a garnish on top of spaghetti with meat balls.

Salad Mix 🥗:

This mix is a flavorful and colorful combination of Broccoli, Kale, Kohlrabi, Arugula, and Red Cabbage microgreens that perfectly complement each other. It is just the right mix of mild and in your face flavors. I prefer to add this mix to my salads.

Yah, I know--where is the imagination in that. Oh well, sometimes the simple classics can't be replaced. I really like them mixed in with crispy Red Romain and Butter Bib lettuces, carrots, cucumber, apples, and tri color sweet mini bell peppers. Oh, and let's step up the protein value with grilled chicken on top.

Sunflower 🌻:

No, not sunflower seeds. The actual tiny microgreens. Their flavor is smooth, buttery and nutty, and they are larger than the other microgreens. They are like a succulent plant leaf. I love these with my breakfast scrambled eggs on top of sour dough toast with a sliced avocado.

Super Spicy Greens Mix 💥:

Now this one is a flavorful and colorful blend that includes Garden Cress, Triton Radish, Southern Curled Mustard, Turnip, and Arugula microgreens. Before getting my hands on this blend I had never had garden cress. Let me tell you what, it packs a spicy punch! My guilty, not so guilty pleasure is topping off a slice of meat lovers thin crust pizza. Can we say yummo?

So there you have it! Those are my top flavor-packed choices, but what would you choose?
